The purpose of the Oregon Safety Professional Worksite Award is to support a project that improves safety and/or health in an Oregon workforce, and increase the visibility of Oregon Safety Professionals. These are projects that have made or will make a difference in the workplace.
The activity or program:
The award must be used to implement the activity or program.
The applicant must be an active or student member of an Oregon chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers. The recipient safety, health and environmental professional will present the results of the innovation or project that received the award at a professional meeting, such as the Governor's Safety Conference, the national ASSE meeting, or a local or chapter ASSE meeting.
The Award will be made at the September Meeting of the ASSE Chapter the recipient belongs to. For information, contact ASSE Chapter President Lee Briney at lbriney@lhs.org.
The Oregon Safety Professional Worksite Award is offered through the sponsorship of CROET (Center for Research on Occupational and Environmental Toxicology) at OHSU in Portland, Oregon. The award maximum is $1500.
The Columbia-Willamette Chapter ASSE will develop a rank ordered listing of applicants based on a combined cumulative score from each of the committee members in each of the following area:
Scoring in each of the four areas will be based on the following scale: 5 = Exceptional, 4 = Excellent, 3 = Good, 2 = Minimal, 1 = Not Applicable, with each applicant having the highest potential score of 20 from each of the committee members.
The committee will then total the points for each candidate from each committee member, to result in a combined cumulative score. The combined cumulative score will vary based on the number of committee members and will form the rank ordered listing of applicants.
Completed applications with the necessary supporting documents will be accepted from January 1 to June 30 each year by the ASSE President. The applications will be reviewed in mid-July.
At least three members of the Association and a representative of the sponsor should be involved in this review process.
The Selection Committee will meet in late July or early August to evaluate the applications and compile a recommended rank order list of recipient(s).
The Selection Committee provides the ASSE President and CROET with the final ranking, including the organization(s) to receive the award(s).
An appropriate letter and Certificate of Award are prepared for inclusion with the check for presentation at the September meeting of the appropriate ASSE Chapter or other selected event.
The recipient(s) are contacted to ensure they are present at the awards ceremony and notifiies applicants who were not accepted.
All reviewed applications are files with the ASSE Chapter Executive Board for recordkeeping.
