Environmental Update for Safety Professionals
Presentation by John Kinsella, ERM - Bellevue, WA
John Kinsella is located in ERM’s Bellevue, WA office, and has almost 30 years of experience in consulting, operations, and practice leadership. Mr. Kinsella serves as West Region leader for the core practices outside of Contaminated Site Management. He has worked for a variety of clients in the chemical, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and waste management industries.
John is a certified Lead Environmental Management Systems auditor who has managed audit teams at high tech manufacturing facilities, offshore platforms, transit systems and military bases among others. He has also helped clients improve their audit programs by implementing streamlined audit checklists and tools (e.g. Excel EMS audit report tool; GIS database customized to receive audit results from the field). He has also developed and delivered multimedia environmental training programs for clients (videos, webinars, handbooks, etc.).
John plays a key role in building company capabilities and business opportunities. He has demonstrated energetic leadership building successful team relationships both internally and externally.

Eric Fullan Recieves 2007-2008 SPY Award
The Chapter has recognized Eric Fullan, Safety Manager for the City of Portland Bureau of Water Works for his outstanding commitment to the safety of people, property and the environment as well as his work to promote safety professionalism in the community.
Portland’s Bureau of Water Works was the first bureau to achieve SHARP status under Eric’s leadership and the bureau’s safety committees were recognized at the 2007 GOSH conference with the Large Employer Safety Committee Award. Eric was also deployed to New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina and he was responsible for safety during the damage assessment phase and during restoration of the water system.
Eric is Past President of the chapter (1998-1999) and he has been actively involved with training, mentoring and developing new officers. He has also served in various roles on GOSH including chairing the conference, presenting conference topics and participating in several committees.
His dedication and professionalism bring great credit to this chapter and the community.

Dave Parsons Awarded Region I SPY Honors
For his contributions to occupational safety, health and the environment, the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Region I (Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington) recently named Dave R. Parsons as Region Safety Professional of the Year (SPY).
Parsons is a safety and loss control consultant for the Associated General Contractors (AGC), Oregon Columbia Chapter. He presented and co-presented with other AGC safety team members to train the Wilsonville-West Linn and Salem-Keizer School Districts on safety and also participates with the Salem and Keizer Chambers of Commerce to assist with the training needs of the faculty and students. Parsons is also on the Construction Advisory Committee (CAC), which is a partnership of employer representatives and OROSHA, to review safety issues in the construction workforce and to develop best practices. He also chairs the Fleet Safety Committee whose goal is to develop a best practices pamphlet for non-CDL drivers in the construction industry.
“Dave has continuously contributed his time and energy to Region I, the Society and the SH&E profession,” said ASSE Region I Vice President Terrie Norris, CSP, ARM, CPSI. “Presenting Dave with his well deserved recognition is one of the best memories of my service as regional vice president.”
